Rugrats on Oils

Growing through what I'm going through.

I'm a mama to three beautiful children- Hawk, Scout and Saylor Verity. I've attained my co-occurring counseling master's degree and plan to return to work as a mental health counselor for postpartum mothers, once my children are in grade school. For now, I'm making my living as your oily lady & I'm just here to help you do the best you can on your chemical free, and natural alternatives journey.  It was really overwhelming to me, when I first started with oils, and it doesn't have to be that way.  I love to incorporate oils into my mental health practices, life in addiction recovery, and provide healthy coping mechanisms for my kiddos- in hopes that they don't grow up and turn to alcohol and drugs to cope with things like I did.

I thought these were pretty rad to grab!!

1. I know a lot of ya'll aren't super picky about water.  Here in the PNW we don't really have to be, or think we have to be anyway, because it tastes SUPERB.  I like the idea of this filtered straw, though. For traveling and e...

I'm pretty much an ammature when it comes to all things make up. A year ago, if you would have asked me for a primer recommendation, I would have sent you to the nearest paint store.  However, in researching chemicals in products around the home, as well as our persona...

If you follow me and my Rugrats on Instagram you are aware of my latest first world problem: throwing away my chemically infused make-up.  Since I've gone chemical free, I don't even use it anymore.  In fact, it's just sitting in my bathroom window, waiting for me to t...

I've gotten a little braver these last three months, at going out and socializing.  Not only that, but doing it with two kids.  Before my affirmation work, my anxiety about socializing with other moms and women would go to an extreme place in my head: She is weird...

When you're new to sobriety, or any recovery really, you are told to fake it till you make it.  Essentially what you’re being told is, have an optimistic attitude and that the only way to get to the other side of something (my addiction) is through it.  Well, I have fo...

The disease of addiction is everything those words are:

->Cunning- skill employed in a shrewd or sly manner, as in deceiving.

->Baffling- to confuse, bewilder, or complex.

->Powerful- of great power or influence.

Every time someone dies in the world of addiction, I feel li...

The Fourth of July is and always has been special to me. Towards the end of my active addiction I can't recall celebrating it in anyway that I am proud of.  In fact, the last 4th of July I spent drinking back in 2013 was my last hoorah with alcohol. Go big or go home....

July 3, 2018

It's been 1,811 days since I blew 0.00, at Hazelden in Newberg, Oregon.  It's been 1,814 days since my last drink.  That's three days.  Three whole, long-ass days, and two very sweaty nights, of being woken up every two hours for vitals, receiving a breathalyzer, and j...

Switching my mind set to be PRO natural products was no easy task for me.  For one, it was a whole new way of thinking, and that meant

C H A N G E.

Secondly, it meant learning about a new lifestyle and ditching the thinking methods of everything I knew.  I h...
